  • Today we can already say for sure that the first progress has begun, or rather, attempts to open cities, regions and countries for local long-distance and international tourism. That's what is happening in different countries in the tourism industry now ..   The first to decide on opening borders for tourists and the new tourist season are Turkey, Greece and even Italy, since such countries are very dependent on beach tourism. Turkey hopes to open the season for domestic tourism in mid-May, and an influx of foreign tourists is expected at the end of the month, by the beginning of summer. In this regard, the so-called "health certificate" is being actively introduced, on the basis of which hotels and tourist areas that have this certificate will be the first to open. This will be an official document, which indicates the absence of coronavirus. Other countries intend to introduce the same certificate. So far, it is not entirely clear who will verify and issue such a certificate? It is also not clear how often such checks will be on the style of the establishment and is it a temporary measure or will it be a tourist norm?   Using the example of domestic tourism and local travelers, the country plans to show foreign tourists that Turkey is a clean, safe and hygienic vacation spot! For Turkey, this is very important, since tourism income amounted to almost 4% of the total GDP of the state and in 2019 was approaching $ 35 billion.   Greece is going to open borders for foreign tourists in mid-June and expects increased demand due to the fact that the country did not have a high incidence. The first foreign tourists will be able to be only those countries where there were also low incidence rates or in which now the level of cases has dropped to a certain minimum. At the same time, the country's authorities suggest that the so-called “health passport” may become a prerequisite for foreign tourists to enter Greece - this document is a certificate confirming the negative result of the coronavirus test, which citizens of other states will be required to do before vacation. How such a "health passport" can guarantee viral safety is not yet clear. Nevertheless, now there is an assumption that such a "Health Passport" will be introduced by many countries and may become a new norm for international travel.   In Italy, the opening of museums and major attractions such as the Colosseum and Pompeii are expected in May. They also plan to open beaches and hotels, but they will no longer have to rely on a buffet as in Turkey. Such a service will replace the integrated menu. The number of beach chairs is reduced on the beaches, umbrellas will be placed 10-14 metro from each other, and perhaps a place on the beach will now need to be booked like a table in the restaurant in advance. This is due to the fact that places will now be limited and certain zones and time for relaxing on the beaches will be reserved for the elderly.   In some countries, in order to socially distance themselves on beaches, special booths made of plexiglass or partition walls are being thought out, which can also become a tourist reality. But it’s not at all clear how it can really protect tourists, at least no one has done such tests and there are no statistics on performance.   In Hong Kong, a new device is being tested at the international airport, which performs a complete disinfection in 40 seconds: it is able to destroy both bacteria and viruses on the skin and clothes. Here, however, there are also questions about how this can affect human health, since we have many other and possibly beneficial bacteria on our bodies. Robot cleaners are also tested there, moving around the halls to clean the surface of bacteria and viruses using ultraviolet radiation.   In the USA, the airport has a transport safety department - TCA calls for washing hands before and after passing through customs or inspection procedures, disinfector and posters about the social distance of 2 meters are everywhere. Airports equipped with electronic kiosks for self check-in encourage passengers to actively use them to reduce interaction with other people.   So what do we have for today? Passports and health certificates, social distance in places of rest, transport and at airports, reduction of places for rest, cabins, dividers, face masks, more thorough verification procedures for international tourism, increase in the number of personnel for maintenance and maintenance of recreation areas clean, psychological "trauma" of the tourism market and at the same time a great desire to travel and relax in different places not only remained but even increased many times, since people spent quite a lot of time on self-isolation nor have there been different reappraisals of life in general. All this together builds a new vector in the tourism economy and in tourism as an industry. Perhaps in the near...

  • According to the old tradition of an avid traveler, upon arrival in some new city for me, the first thing I do is go to the local synagogue. I decided to do the same after landing in Miami. What was my surprise when it turned out that there were already 250 synagogues in this resort town! As I later saw, they were built in completely different architectural styles: from ancient to modern. Jews from all over the world came to Miami, and each community seeks to build its own house of worship. But among the variety of synagogues stands out one - Emanu-El (Emanu-El). This gigantic structure with a five-story building in the Byzantine-Moorish style is one of the ten largest synagogues in the world. Up to one and a half thousand people can pray in it. The interior of the synagogue with a huge blue dome and beautiful stained glass windows is also striking in its splendor. In 2010, a dove of peace bronze sculpture was installed in front of the synagogue, and the entire square in front of the synagogue was laid out with a Jerusalem stone brought from Israel. Among the honored guests of the synagogue were American presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton, and even the Dalai Lama. This largest Miami synagogue was built in 1947 by order of the Orthodox Jewish community, which had grown over the years of World War II. Two old synagogues could no longer accommodate all the believers and were given over to the "Jewish Museum of Florida." From the exhibits of the museum you can find out about the past and present of the Jewish community of Miami. For example, that the houses of worship reserved for the museum were founded in 1936. The very first synagogue in the city of Bnei Zion was built in 1912, when the number of Miami Jews reached 75. The first time Jews stayed in Miami was far from cloudless. The founders of Miami did not feel much sympathy for this ancient people. They established a peculiar sedentary line for those Jews who wanted to live in a new resort town. They were forbidden to settle beyond Fifth Street on Miami Beach Island. Then it was not a very comfortable wetland. It was on this territory that the Miami ghetto actually developed. The first synagogues in the city were built there. Restrictive standards also apply to those Jews who came here on vacation. It was not uncommon to see signs at the entrance to local hotels that read: “No dogs and Jews allowed” or “Always good view, never a jew” (“Always a good view, Jews never”). Now such tablets are only in the museum, and public anti-Semitism has long been archived. In the 1930s, Jewish entrepreneurs opened the first hotels in Miami Beach, which helped turn Miami into one of the most prosperous tourist destinations in the United States. Economic development has attracted many Jews from other American states to Miami. As a result, the Jewish population living in Greater Miami increased from 25 people in 1896 to nearly 550,000 in 2016. This tropical resort has become the third largest Jewish city in the United States (after New York and Los Angeles). Perhaps the most famous Jew who settled in Miami can be considered the Nobel Prize in Literature (for 1978) Isaac Singer. One of the streets of Miami was named after him, and a memorial plaque was installed on the house where he spent the last years of his life. A clear confirmation of the eradication of official anti-Semitism was the election of Jews to representative bodies of power. In 1930, Baron Meyer de Hirsch was elected to the Miami City Council. Since then, Jews began to play a significant role in the municipal life of the city. For example, Abram Aronovich was the mayor of Miami in 1953. Hitler's rise to power in Germany and the departure of the Jews, while it was still possible, brought to Florida many film figures who fled from Nazism. As a result, Florida became, for some time, the second American cinema center after Hollywood. In memory of those 6 million Jews who could not escape at the hands of the Nazis, the inhabitants of Miami built a grandiose monument. It is unlikely that there will be at least one more monument to the victims of the Holocaust around the world that would produce such a strong emotional impact on the audience. Far from residential areas, on the edge of a palm grove, I saw a giant 14-meter-long bronze arm stretching straight out of the ground, facing people. On its inner side, the tattoo is the identification number of the prisoner of the Nazi concentration camp. From afar, it seems that this is the hand of a drowning man, because it is located in the middle of the water, on an island, in the center of a large perfectly round pond. On a hand, aspiring to salvation, people climb. All the figures around you are made in full size and you are among them. The nightmare feeling of physical involvement in the tragedy of extermination of an entire people does not leave. A striking emotional and visual contrast is created by the fact that this gigantic, bronzed...
  • As you know, Americans are famous for their addiction to imitate everything European. And not only in the names of cities (New York, New London, several cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg), but also in architecture. Few people know that one of Miami's main attractions, the Freedom Tower, is nothing more than a copy of the bell tower of the Cathedral in Seville. Seville is the capital of Andalusia, a southern province of Spain. We all remember the indefatigable Figaro, the protagonist of the classic opera The Barber of Seville (Figaro is here, Figaro is there).     So - it was in this city at the time of the discovery and development by the Europeans of the American continent that was the largest port in Spain and throughout Europe. Ships with looted Indian treasures came here. The huge ship Atocha, loaded with tons of gold and silver bars, pearls, emeralds and other jewelry, was heading to Seville's port from South America. This liner was a kind of "Tinanik" of the 17th century. About 200 representatives of the European aristocracy sailed on it when he sank off the coast of Key West in 1622. (You can listen to the fascinating history of treasure hunts from Atocha on our excursion to the southernmost US city. You will have the opportunity not only to see the jewels raised from the bottom of the ocean with your own eyes, but also to touch them.  Excursion here.             It was through the Seville port that trade with the new colonies in America was going on. The Giralda tower towered above this port (translated from Spanish - "weather vane"). The bell tower was called so because it was crowned by a bronze four-meter sculpture "Christian Faith" spinning around its axis, with a flag in hand.     The Giralda bell tower itself in its "past life" was a minaret of a mosque built in the 12th century. After the liberation of Spain from the Moors, the mosque was turned into a Catholic cathedral, and the minaret became the bell tower of this cathedral. It is curious that Muslim Moors, in turn, built a minaret on the site of an ancient Roman temple. The Giralda base is made of huge faceted stones of the ancient temple - they reach three meters in thickness and on some stones there are still inscriptions in Latin from the Roman Empire. Thus, the Giralda tower is simultaneously a symbol of three religions: paganism, Islam and Christianity.   Seville and the New World are united by the fact that in the cathedral of this Spanish city there is the grave of the discoverer of America - Christopher Columbus.   In Miami, a tower was built, which also rises above the port, and looks like a Seville bell tower like two drops of water. The Americans erected it as a symbol of the gate to the "Old World" - to Europe. It is curious that ships entered the Seville port from the Atlantic Ocean, the waters of which are washed by Miami. It turns out that on the two shores of the same ocean are two identical towers. One of them for the whole of Europe symbolizes America, and the other - Europe for America.     But this Miami-Seville symbolism is not limited. The Spanish Giralda (also known as the Freedom Tower in Florida) is literally built into the center of the facade of the Biltmore Hotel, the most beautiful hotel in Miami. The height of this hotel - 96 meters - is exactly the same as that of the Giralda in Seville. Freedom Tower is a little smaller - 78 meters.   The hotel and the tower were built almost simultaneously. Freedom Tower in 1925 and Biltmore in 1926. And they were designed by the same architect - Leonard Schulz - an American of German descent. Initially, the Freedom Tower was built as the editorial board of the local Miami News newspaper. After the revolution in Cuba in 1959, everyone who did not want to build communism there moved to America. Miami was covered by a wave of Cuban emigration.   And it is in the port tower that there is a kind of "filtration point" for refugees from Cuba. It was through this tower that Cubans gained true freedom. Hence the name - "Freedom Tower". As a reminder of the saving past of the Freedom Tower, the Cuban flag is constantly developing at one of its corners, and the American one at the other. Now in this tower is a museum of Cuban emigration. Entrance to the museum is absolutely free. Welcome!   Autor: Edward Glezin (Candidate of Historical Sciences)...

    KHAN ATLAS

Today, like many centuries ago, khan-atlas is one of the most recognizable brands in Uzbekistan. A rave of color of the silk is amazing in its originality and magnificence. It is interesting that khan-atlas is used in their collections by well-known designers like Oscar de la Renta, Gucci, John Galliano. It is very pleasing that today the khan - atlas recovered its former glory and again adorns women from all over the world.    The legend of the royal silk says that once one of the rulers of Margilan fell in love with a daughter of the poor weaver and was going to make her his fifth wife. The miserable father threw at the ruler’s feet and begged him to release his daughter .The ruler agreed, but only on terms that by morning, the weaver would create something so beautiful that would be able to overshadow the beauty of his daughter. The regretful old man went to a bank of aryk (local canal). He spent there a long time in thoughts not noticing the rain start mixing with his tears. Suddenly the rain stopped and the poor weaver saw the reflection of clouds in the water. The clouds were turned in all colors of the rainbow. The weaver happily exclaimed - "Oh heaven, thank you for the idea!" He went to his workshop and worked there all night, but in the morning he unfolded before the khan’s sight a marvelous fabric sparkling with all colors of the rainbow and fluffy like a cloud and light like the air. The ruler asked how he managed to create such a miracle in just one night, to which the following words were said: “I took the greenery of the foliage washed by the rain, added the color of the tulip petals, the glow of dawn, the blue of the night sky, the patch of the sunlight on the river, and the c of my beloved daughter’s eyes and mixed all them. ” The ruler was shocked by the beauty of the fabric, so he forgot about his bride and agreed to let her go. The fabric of incredible beauty was called Ruler's silk or Khan-atlas.   In the old days, Bukhara was the center of khan - atlas. But Margilan masters made it so much skillfully that up to now it has been considered as one of the best quality. The process of making khan - atlas by hand is very complicated, it includes up to forty stages. Only natural ingredients are used for dying: pomegranate peels, onion husks, madder, extracts from roots, fruits and plants. A special painting technique creates a unique pattern called abr which means a cloud. In Europe, however, the fabric is more known by the name of ikat. The Khan Atlas continues holding the prevail among other fabrics pleasing its owners with brightness, tenderness and beauty. Article author Ruslan Daminov Tours to Uzbekistan

  • 'Miami-Biltmore Hotel & Country Club' was built in 1926 and received the status of a National Historic Landmark in 1996. Rumor has it that ghosts are found in the walls of the hotel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOHN7Vlhc78. When the construction process was completed, at that time the building was the tallest building in Florida, beating even the Freedom Tower in Downtown Miami in growth. The hotel’s swimming pool was once the largest swimming pool in the world, a living attraction of which was swimming instructor Johnny Weissmüller, five-time Olympic swimming champion and actor who played Tarzan. The Biltmore Hotel has become the venue for the filming of Bad Boys and TV shows such as C.S.I .: Miami and Miami Police: Morale Department.   George Edgar Merrick became the person who developed the plan for the construction of the city of Coral Gables and put it into practice, he also founded the University of Miami and built the suburbs to all strict standards to create a wonderful environment surrounded by Coral Gables. Outside the city, consisting mainly of residential areas with wide boulevards, there were golf courses and clubs. About 150 multinational companies and headquarters have grown in the thriving business district of Coral Gables. Together with tycoon John Mack Enty Bowman, young Merrick in 1925 conceived the construction of a large hotel, which was to become not only a hotel for many visitors, but also a center of sports and fashion. Ten months of work and ten million dollars spent - and the Biltmore Hotel celebrated its birth.   In its best times, the hotel hosted royal families from Europe and famous Hollywood stars. So, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Edward and Sophie Windsor visited here; American actresses and dancers Ginger Rogers and Judy Garland, Bing Crosby, gangster Al Capone and representatives of the Roosevelt and Vanderbilt clans.   On weekends, about three thousand people came to the hotel pool to enjoy the synchronized swimming of beautiful girls, look at wrestling with alligators and at the wonderful boy Jackie Ott, diving into the water from the platform at an altitude of almost 26 meters. It was here that swimmer Johnny Weissmuller broke his world record and worked as a swimming instructor before his career in Hollywood. But the sweet life ended with the advent of World War II, when the War Office transformed the Biltmore Hotel into a hospital. Many windows were concreted, and marble flooring was replaced by government linoleum. In 1973, thanks to the Law on Historic Monuments and the Parks Heritage Program, the city of Coral Gables was returned to control of the hotel, but due to difficult times, the Biltmore Hotel remained unoccupied for almost ten years.   Finally, in 1983, the city regained its former status and began to need a large hotel. Almost four years and $ 55 million were spent on the restoration and modernization of the Biltmore Hotel, and on December 31, 1987, it was reopened, turning into a resort and a first-class hotel. After the next update and spent $ 5 million, the hotel celebrated another opening in November 2007. In February 2009, the hotel launched its own Culinary Academy, which educates its future chefs. The building was surrounded by golf courses designed by Donald Ross, and an area of approximately 3.5 thousand square meters. m has become one of the best spa in the world.   Address: 1200 Anastasia Ave, Coral Gables, FL 33134   South Miami Tour Article author Eduard Glezin
  • There are simply cities that appear and disappear in history, but Rome is history itself. Walking along the streets of Rome, you will feel that you are on the pages of an ancient world history textbook. Arriving in the eternal city, you will not be amiss to know that Rome stands on seven hills, and each hill has its own historical attraction. Of course, the most famous hill that everyone has probably heard of is Capitol Hill. There were meetings of the Roman Senate, and public meetings, and now there are monuments to one of the emperors of Rome, Marcus Aurelius, the city hall and the ancient basilica. Basilica (basilica; Greek βασιλική - “the house of the basileus, the royal house”) - a type of structure of a rectangular shape, which consists of an odd number (1, 3 or 5) of different naves in height.     From Capitoline Hill you can see the very heart of Ancient Rome, the ruins of the Roman Forum. The magnificence of the Roman Forum was hidden from sight for a thousand years, under a layer of land of 20 meters and only in the last century all this was discovered and unearthed. The forum is the heart of ancient Rome, several temples, a market, an area for public gatherings and trials, houses of aristocrats and even a treasury. Another visiting card of Rome is of course the Colosseum. The Colosseum (from Latin colosseus - huge, colossal) or the Flavian amphitheater (Latin Amphitheatrum Flavium) - an amphitheater, an architectural monument of Ancient Rome, the most famous and one of the most ambitious buildings of the Ancient World that have survived to our time [1]. It is located in Rome, in a hollow between the Esquiline, Palatine and Celiev hills. Bloody gladiatorial fights were organized here. Even now this huge thing looks incredible, it was built by a thousand slaves, with modern money it would have cost 400 million dollars, it could accommodate almost 70 thousand spectators. In total, there were 5 levels in the stands of the Coliseum, the lowest was for the nobility, for the richest, higher were seats for the military, then for the citizens of Rome and on the gallery itself there were unmarried women and slaves. The Coliseum also had another part hidden from the audience, these were cellars where animals were kept that participated in battles with gladiators.     If you want to feel that you are in the past, then you must definitely tour Europe and, of course, you need to visit Rome, this eternal city, where time seemed to stop! One of the opportunities to visit this unique city is a trip on a cruise ship. If you want to go on a cruise and certainly visit Rome, then fill out the form here, indicate your dates, number of people in the cabin, type of cabin, and be sure to inform that you want a cruise that enters the city of Rome. The best option will be sent to you. Good luck!
