DESCRIPTION

The Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy is the largest exposition, museum and recreational complex in the world. The territory of VDNH is home to many masterpieces of architecture, large and small park constructions, including unique fountains, with 49 objects of the Exhibition being recognized as monuments of cultural heritage.
     VDNH was built in 1935. It was a gorgeous demonstration of the Soviet architectural style called Stalin's empire. VDNKh had pavilions dedicated to a particular industry or a field (engineering, space, atomic energy, the people's education, Soviet culture and many others). There are also pavilions representing the various Soviet Republics, with each boasting a unique architectural design. "The Friendship of the Nations" fountain was built to glorify the Soviet people. “Stone Flower” fountain was the first light-and-music fountain in the world.
     Not far from the park entrance is the famous Soviet sculpture by Vera Muhina – Worker and Collective Farm Girl.
     A large-scale project to revive VDNH was launched several years ago. VDNH will not only be the Country's Main Exhibition with a collection of the most interesting things in Russia, but will also become the main educational, entertainment, cultural, museum and recreational complex.
